About UsHours: Monday-Saturday, 10-5:30 Holiday Closures 2011: December 24th; 10AM-2PM, December 25th & 26th: Closed for Christmas December 31st & January 1st, 2012: Closed for New Years. We are a quilting supply store housed in a great 1890's building that used to be a dry goods store. We still have the original counters, shelves, and rolling ladders. We sell everything quilting, knitting, crocheting, and candy too! No candy online as the shipping gets dicey depending on the weather. We now sell yarn as well--Noro, Debbie Bliss, and Cascade, but we're always getting new stuff! I'm an APQS longarm dealer, as well as a Janome dealer so we're your one stop shop from your machine to getting things quilted. We rent both our longarm, Millie, and our stationary longarm, George, by the hour, so you can always quilt your own projects. Let us know if you have any questions by emailing us at lily@ltquilts.com or calling at 406.932.6078. Thanks for checking out our site! I'm the owner, Lily Kinross-Wright. I've been quilting since about 2003. I was born and raised in Big Timber, Montana, where we're located, and went away to college at Duke University in North Carolina. After graduating in '05, I stayed and worked for two years until this opportunity arose (my dream come true). My then boyfriend (from New Jersey, I met at Duke) braved a drastic relocation to Montana and now teaches at Park High in Livingston, MT. We got married in July 5th, 2008. I've had requests for a picture of me, so here is one of us at our rehearsal picnic with my grandparents. Here is the latest addition to my family, my newborn son, Rhys Michael Johnson, born on October 26th, 2011. He was 8 pounds, 8 ounces and 21.5 inches long. Here is a picture of him giving his daddy a big hug at 4 days old. ![]() And one as husband and wife. :) ![]() Now you've seen what I like in a husband :), but as far as quilting goes, I really like trying new stuff. Don't get me wrong, sometimes I just feel like strip piecing something fast and fun. But I really get my kicks by challenging myself or trying new things. I love machine applique, primarily because I love thread more than anything else in the quilting world. I love curved piecing. I absolutely love free-motion quilting on my home machine (Janome MC11,000), my APQS George, and on my long-arm, an APQS Millenium. I hate pantographs, I even hate marking for the most part. Even feathers and intricate work I like to do free hand. I guess I excuse myself by saying variety is the spice of life. I love batiks and bright fabrics, but subtle prints are not lost on me. I love rich fall colors as well. I will not pretend I like binding. It usually takes me months to bind stuff that I've quilted. In the shop we really try to promote quilters pushing their comfort zone, trying new things, learning and challenging themselves. Personal growth is our tongue-in-cheek motto. We have a wide variety of fabrics, books, and patterns, and the newest most useful notions. We specialize in batiks and brights. We love teaching, helping, and just being supportive when quilters venture out on a limb. I have a wonderful staff of three part-time gals who are all stellar quilters. Betsy Donald is our hand-quilter extraordinaire and can make batik combinations that absolutely sing, and lately our paper-piecing queen. Vicky Schwartz is our in house hand-embroidery expert and more traditional quilter with an eye for beautiful neutrals and creating her own paper-piecing patterns. Our latest addition is Bonnie Ferguson, new to quilting, but having a great time learning. We're also very grateful to all of you quilters out there who support us and make this industry so much fun! Happy quilting! |
